IDRIS ELBA AND TORONTO TALENT CONNOR PRICE COLLABORATE ON HOMAGE TO ‘COURTENEY COX’

Multifaceted producer, singer/ songwriter and DJ, Idris Elba has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest musical talent via his London imprint 7Wallace - Skepta, Little Simz, Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, Che Lingo, Q-tip, Sean-Paul, Stefflon Don – the list is extensive and impressive.

Elba’s first release of 2021 champions new and up and coming Canadian talent and hip-hop enthusiast Connor Price on their collaborative record ‘Courteney Cox’. Released by 7Wallace and Price’s Toronto based imprint, 4 Of Clubs, ‘Courteney Cox’ is high-octane and an infectiously hooky slice of synth-soaked trap – a playful and tongue-in-cheek homage to Connor’s favourite actress and childhood crush.

The collaboration came from an Instagram challenge Idris created after being diagnosed with Covid-19, where he posted a rap and left the third verse open. Connor responded with a freestyle of his own and woke up to a DM from Idris the next morning. From there Idris sent the track to Courteney Cox who wrote and recorded her own lyrics to Idris and Connor’s skit and performed it in the video – what results is a huge serving of fun, wit and humour which doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Hailing via Toronto, Connor Price started releasing music independently under his self-owned ‘4 of clubs’ brand. He began to further develop his sound and fanbase by putting out a brand new song every two weeks. His self-directed/edited video ‘Typical Rapper’ accumulated over 1 million Facebook views in the first month.

7Wallace is the record label founded by Idris Elba in 2015, with the aim of breaking boundaries in dance and hip-hop. Since then the company has expanded to include music publishing, in a joint venture with Universal Music Publishing, and has also set up studios in Central London and Oxford.

7Wallace adds Producer Manon Dave to Publishing Roster

Manon Dave is a UK-based music producer, songwriter, and award-winning technologist. His works include production and co-writes with will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas (Fiyah) and Maroon 5 members; Adam Levine, PJ Morton, and James Valentine (Heavy). In 2020, Manon signed a publishing deal with Idris Elba's 7Wallace publishing company, in a joint venture with Universal Music Publishing Group.

Owing to his seemingly endless versatility and broad repertoire, Manon's catalogue spans multiple genres and styles. From classical and pop compositions for Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) to executive production for the enigmatic UK rap sensation, Che Lingo, Manon's uniquely polished sound keeps him held in high regard amongst his peers. Others to call on Manon for co-writes include Tushar Apte (Chris Brown, ZAYN), Freddie Wexler (Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande), PARISI (Ed Sheeran, RZA), Chicago-based rapper, Mick Jenkins, and Grammy-nominated writer, Rose Betts (Bazzi).

In addition to his work in creating music, Manon has also designed and developed some of the very tools that his peers use. He has collected numerous coveted design awards for his work on ROLI's Seaboard RISE & BLOCKS devices, which featured in Apple Stores worldwide, as well as leading the development of the flagship MASCHINE device at Native Instruments.

Manon has also continued to give back to the community through his craft. He is an ambassador of A.R. Rahman's KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, India, and has worked to offer scholarships and professional opportunities to it's students. His efforts have led him to become a World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders nominee for the class of 2021.
